Our History

History of Rotary Means Business (RMB)

In 2004, the Rotary Club of San Francisco launched a business networking initiative to help members support each other’s businesses. This idea spread across the USA, with many groups forming independently. In 2008, Tony Benner from Sydney, Australia, founded the first international chapter after visiting San Francisco.

In 2009, the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa took an interest in RMB. Mark Burchill later took over leadership, aiming to expand RMB into a Rotary International Fellowship. By late 2013, RMB was approved as the 52nd official Rotary International Fellowship, recognizing the value of the “Rotary Means Business” name. By the end of 2014, RMB had grown to 8 chapters. From 2015, it rapidly expanded, including chapters in every continent except Antarctica.
